Alan Cartwright led a very interesting session on his research on the census records for Pocklington. Initially interested by the map created by William Watson Alan has gone on to try and link census records from the 19th Century. There are wide range of websites that provide background information on using the census in family and local history, examples include the BBC Family History site, the Vision of Britain site, information on the National Statistics site and the National Archives. Transcripts of some of the Bolton censuses are available here.
