    Dear Pat,

Bishop Wilton has it's own active local history group and a website http://www.bishopwilton.info/.  They may have more details. Are you sure of the spelling of Garraby, it could well be Garrowby, as that is a local name?

Do you know where your Great Grandmother was born in Bolton, as we may have a picture of the house in our archives?

    Dear Pat

There is a record in the Fangfoss School Register for Rachel Gray, first admitted to the school on the 17th October 1882. Her father is recorded as James Gray, Bolton Lane, his occupation being labourer. The date of birth is recorded as 25th August 1876. She is recorded as leaving the school on 19/10/1883. I can't find a record for her sister Hannah Gray, who is recorded as a scholar at the the 1881 census. There are a number of houses on Bolton Lane and the census doesn't indicate which property James Gray was living in. There is no Gray family in the 1891 census for the village.

James Gray is recorded as being born in Spital, which lies between Bolton and Fangfoss.

Hope this is of some use.
