    Campbell Family

Hi, the Campbell family in Fir Farm, Bolton and Fangfoss are my long lost family. My great-great grandfather came to Canada in 1851 from Fangfoss and did not tell his family where he had gone. It has taken me several years to locate my English ancestory and where my great-great father (Miles Campbell) orginated from (Fangfoss). I have several of the photos you posted and can identify the people.

I have travelled to Fangfoss, Bolton and Pocklington and met my English relatives after posting an article in the Pocklington Post. A cousin from Pocklingon answered the article and the rest of the story was told. I had the opportunity to stay in the Feathers Hotel at Pocklington and can relate stories of the infamous ghost known as Charlotte. So much for my rambling.

Can you help me with my research if I posted specific information I am searching? Thanks again your website made my day!!

    Hi Les

I was fascinated to read your message.  My grandmother was Florence Campbell, shown on the photo on the Bolton History group website of a wedding at Fir Tree Farm, Fangfoss, and what's more, we currently live in Fir Tree Farm and have done so since 1972.  My family name is now Rickatson as Florence married John Rickatson, also from Fangfoss and later lived at my childhood home, Lodge Farm, Fangfoss.  What a pity I didn't know you were coming to Fangfoss.  I don't really know many other Campbells from the area.  My father - Florence's son, and his brother and sister are still alive, so we might be able to answer your questions. Get in touch if you think I could help out.
